The Native American Media Alliance is accepting applications for the 5th Annual Native American Writers Seminar taking place this summer.
The Native American Writers Seminar develops emerging Native Americans writers for TV and film. The virtual seminar provides introductions to literary development programs and uplifts indigenous storytellers in need of professional and creative mentorship. This initiative offers new access for Native Americans writers seeking to break into film and television.
Chosen participants for the virtual seminar workshop an existing script through one-on-one mentoring, group sessions and industry meetings. The program provides intensive feedback and is accompanied by rigorous writing sessions. In addition, the seminar provides representatives from prestigious fellowships and successful participants of past NAMA writing programs. These speakers share insight into career development and professional growth.
The purpose of the seminar is to provide an in-depth workshop for Native Americans with an existing script they can develop into a polished sample.
The 5th Annual Native American Writers Seminar early deadline to apply is March 31st, 2025 (Regular Deadline April 14th, 2025, Final Deadline April 28th, 2025).

About the Program
The curriculum entails creative discussions with veteran writers, experienced instructors and representatives of prestigious writing programs. These discussions provide additional insight into artistic development, applying for fellowships and exploring professional opportunities.
The virtual seminar provides one on one meetings with a creative executive, experienced writer or literary rep. These conversations will share additional guidance on career path, creative level, and next steps. Each seminar participant will have the opportunity to discuss creative development, enhance their respective materials and improve their writing sample. The goal of each component is to get their script at the most polished level possible for submission to fellowships, creative executives and literary representation.

Application Process
How it Works:
If accepted into the seminar you must be willing to make a commitment to a multi-day program that will entail day and evening meetings.
Who Should Apply:
The Native American Writers Seminar is for beginning writers who have a half-hour comedy television script, a one-hour dramatic television script or feature film script. Submissions do not have to be completed drafts. Each selected participant is expected to develop an improved draft of their submission script.

The submission period for the 5th Annual Native American Writers Seminar is now open.
How to Apply:
The online application form is below. Please include a completed application form, a completed release form available for download here, biography or resume, statement of interest, two references that include their name and title with their company, one writing sample of the following: Television pilot script or television spec script, feature film script in PDF format. Please note that writing teams are ineligible. You must be 18 or over to apply. All submitted materials must be original and all rights must be wholly owned by the writer.
