Princella Parker RedCorn is Latina and a citizen of the Umóⁿhoⁿ Nation (Omaha Tribe of Nebraska). Her Umóⁿhoⁿ name is Watawi (“Victorious Bird”) and she descends from roadmen of the Native American Church and strong Matriarchs from her Hamilton family tree. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Theatre from Creighton University and a Master’s degree in Professional Journalism from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. In 2016, Princella earned the prestigious “Native American 40 Under 40 Award”- an award that recognizes and celebrates those who have demonstrated leadership, initiative, and dedication and made significant contributions in business and their community. In 2025, she earned a certificate from the Cherokee Film Institute and recently worked as a production assistant and a community member extra on two Oklahoma television productions. Princella produced two documentary films with a national broadcast on PBS. Standing Bear’s Footsteps was broadcast in 2012 and shares the story of the Ponca Chief Standing Bear and his legal/personal journey north from the Indian Territory to honor his son’s dying wish to be buried in their Nebraska homeland. In 2016, Medicine Women broadcast nationally and featured modern Native women in medicine as well as the story of Dr. Susan La Flesche Picotte, the first Native to earn a medical degree and practice medicine on the Omaha reservation in the late 1800s. Princella currently works for the Shawnee Tribe as Communications Coordinator, responsible for media requests, press releases and the monthly e-Newsletter for Shawnee citizens as well as video production and editing. She served three years as Communications Officer for the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center, a national Native nonprofit addressing safety for Native women and their children. Princella served as a board member for the Montana nonprofit, Hopa Mountain, and has experience working and volunteering within and for Native American communities promoting college powwows, film festivals and screenings, Omaha Tribe casino events and cultural family nights. Princella enjoys teaching trauma-informed yoga and raising her two highly spirited children with her Architect/Dreamer husband Jon.
