The Native American Writers Room is a groundbreaking initiative that creates and develops new scripted projects for feature film and television. This endeavor provides a genuine creative outlet for indigenous storytellers, produces unique literary material and addresses the absence of indigenous representation in entertainment.
This initiative establishes a writers room of Native American Media Alliance program fellows and LA SKINS FEST filmmakers to develop a new television series or feature film script. The room provides a genuine space for Native Americans to work with fellow indigenous writers to create new characters, original worlds and innovative stories.
This initiative has brought together dozens of Native American writers to develop several projects that encompass numerous genres, formats and outlets. Supporters include Pop Culture Collaborative, Cherokee Film and the California Arts Council.
