Marcie Price Jackson is a screenwriter, novelist, artist and root beer enthusiast in Oklahoma City. She is of Cherokee, Scottish, and English descent, and is proud to be an enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation.
Marcie has recently served as a staff writer on an independent indigenous-led comedy web series based in Albuquerque. Her comedy pilot “Overdue” was named a Semi-finalist in the Seriesfest Storytellers Initiative. Her feature “Plus One” (co-written with Kathy Lee) was a Second Rounder at the Austin Film Festival, and named Best Feature Screenplay at the Austin Revolution Film Festival. Additionally, Marcie was selected as a Native American Media Alliance TV Writing Lab Fellow, and she received the NAMA Writer’s Accelerator Grant sponsored by Netflix. Previously, Marcie was selected as one of twelve screenwriters statewide to participate in the deadCENTER Film Festival Screenwriting Intensive
Marcie earned her BFA in Fine Art from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, and when she’s not writing, she works in Visual Communications for a public library system. Previously, Marcie served as a College Admissions Counselor, an Illustrator, a Graphic Designer, and a potato chip mascot (for one very long day). Marcie enjoys various forms of storytelling, and in addition to screenwriting, she also writes novels for both teens and adults as well as comic strips and graphic novels. She is currently a member of The Engine Writer’s Workshop based in Los Angeles as well as the Cherokee Nation’s Screenwriter Workshop.
As a neurodivergent and chronically ill writer, Marcie aims to focus on projects that are comprised of funny, moving, female-driven stories that feature indigenous, neurodivergent and complex characters in a modern way. Marcie resides in Oklahoma City with her supportive husband and less-than-supportive cats.
