Dacotah Hasvold is a member of the Flandreau Santee Sioux tribe. In 2019 he graduated with a degree in Media Communications from Haskell Indian Nations University, where he wrote for the Indian Leader. He followed up his production career at a local web series that focused on Native American issues. He developed his production acumen as a writer, crew person and on-air talent as a co-host for the series.
In 2020, he was selected to participate in the prestigious Native American Journalists Association Fellowship. He currently works as a staff writer and co-host of Good Morning Indian Country, a weekly live Indigenous news outlet.
Dacotah’s love for writing goes beyond journalism. His short film Cain and Coyote was recently featured at the Haskell Film Fest. He is filming his next short film and exploring animation as he was a recent fellow of the 4th Annual Native American Animation Lab.
