Jade Puga and Richard Montes

Jade Puga and Richard Montes are a writing, producing and filmmaking team. The duo are FOX Writers Incubator 2023 DRAMA fellows. Jade is a NAMA TV Writers fellow and Richard is a NAMA Features Writers fellow. They formed Safada Y Sano Productions and have directed, written and produced the feature films Aguruphobia, which had a limited theatrical release and Pass The Mic, which screened for the American Film Institute. Their short form content includes the film festival award winner Toci: A Mexica Tale and the animated film The Wolf and The Haunted Forest. Jade and Richard have developed with major studios and production companies for film, scripted and unscripted television. They placed in the top 10% of the 2022 and 2018 Nicholl Fellowship. Richard is a graduate of Chapman University, Dodge College of Film and Media Arts (MFA Degree). Jade graduated from USC’s School of Theater(BA Degree). Jade was a Hola Mexico Film Festival “Tomorrow’s Filmmakers Today” Fellow and in 2021, she was named the California Arts Council Arts Administrator of Color Fellow for the Los Angeles Region. The fellowship supported Jade and Richard’s work on researching and writing a Historical-Cultural Monument Nomination for a significant Highland Park Chicano mural. And in 2024, their work resulted in the first mural named a Historical Cultural Monument by the City of Los Angeles.
